Operating system sources
Some of the most common sources of data are the organization's Unix-like, MacOS and Windows PCs and Servers. Because of this, Devo has developed packages or agents that help to streamline the configuration process. These packages make it possible not only to send the system logs but also any application logs that reside on the host system. Because of this, these instructions can be used as a foundation for sending events of many types to a Devo endpoint.
In the case of the Unix-like machines, we also provide instructions for manually configuring the syslog, rsyslog, and syslog-ng files in the case that you prefer to have finer control over the edits to these files.
Cloud service resources
Cloud services are quickly becoming a standard part of a business's IT infrastructure plan and they are used for storage and processing horsepower. Devo provides guidance for sending log events written to an AWS S3 bucket directly to the Devo Cloud over a secure channel.
Custom apps
The steps required to configure the sending of logs events generated by your in-house, custom apps will depend on the environment used to build the app. Guidance is provided for apps built in Java, Python, and node.js.
Commercial products
Devo supports the ingestion of events from hundreds of different system and application logs. We refer to these as supported technologies. This simply means that Devo is already equipped to correctly parse each log event into its fields in order to display the whole log in table format. Check out the abridged list here.

For some of these event sources, we provide specific instructions for sending the logs to a Devo endpoint. For others, we do not provide application-specific instructions but you can refer to the guidance provided for the event sources by operating system. For example, if the event source resides on a Ubuntu server, the instructions here will help you establish a secure channel over which you can send to a Devo endpoint (either the Devo Relay or the Devo Cloud).
