This operation joins the strings of a given array to form a single string, disregarding nulls .

How does it work in the search window?

Select Create field in the search window toolbar, then select the Join operation. You need to specify at least one argument:

Argument

Data type

Array mandatory

Array(str)

Note

Use the Make Array (mkarray) operation to convert a field to array data type.

separatorAny

String(str)

The data type of the values in the new field is string.

...

Use the operator select... as...  and add the operation syntax to create the new field. This is the syntax for the Join operation using some examples, as well as the results:

Code Block
join(["a","bc","def"],   "#") ===> "a#bc#def"'
join(["a","bc","def"], "123") ===> a123bc123def
join(null, "a123bc123def"'
join#")               ==> null

Using the syntax with null as a separator will join them without separator.

Code Block
join(["a","bc","def"],  null) ===> "abcdef"'
join(nullabcdef

Using the syntax with one null as part of the array will ignore the null but will keep the separator.

Code Block
join([null,"bc","def"], "#")  ==> #bc#def
join(["a",null,"def"], "#")          ===> null'a##def

Example

You can copy the following LINQ script and try the above example on the siem.logtrust.web.activity table.
