What permissions do I need?

Users with the Activeboards (manage) or the User resources permissions can activate the edit editing mode (more about permissions here).

...

You can activate the edit editing mode taking into account the following considerations:

  • Users whose role has the User resources permission can always activate the edit editing mode in Activeboards.

  • Users with the Activeboards (manage) permission can always activate the edit editing mode in their own Activeboards. However, if someone shares an Activeboard with them, the permission level may be limited to view (learm more about sharing Activeboards here).

About the editing and viewing modes

Activating the editing mode impacts certain actions you can take in your Activeboards and applies to all of the Activeboards you work with in the current user are working with during your current session. That is to say, if you activate the edit mode, the change is applied to all the Activeboards you access in that session, both your own Activeboards and the ones you've been given access. By default, all Activeboards have the edit mode deactivated when you first access them in a session. However, when you create a new Activeboard, the edit mode is activated by default so that you can start working on it directly. editing mode will remain active until you choose to deactivate it or until you leave the area.

Users are allowed to perform different actions upon activation of the edit editing mode:

Edit

Editing mode

OFF

You can only see the current widgets data but you cannot create new widgets or inputs nor can you modify

the aggregation tasks

their data sources.

You can set different time ranges (both for the Activeboard and for individual widgets) and edit the widgets' visual settings, but keep in mind that these changes will not be saved.

Edit

Viewing mode

ON

Activeboards with the

edit

editing mode activated can be completely modified. You can create new widgets and inputs, edit the widgets' properties and sizes, change the

date ranges

time ranges so they persist for future sessions and users, etc.

and apply any modification.

Activating the editing mode

You can activate the editing mode by clicking the Viewing button at the top left of the area and selecting the Editing option in the menu that appears. The button’s name will reflect the active method.
