Extract the root suffix from the hostnames in a given string field. A root suffix includes everything that comes after the root domain, including it. For example, in www.my.example.co.uk, the root suffix is example.co.uk

How does it work in the search window?

Select Create column in the search window toolbar, then select the Hostname root suffix operation. You need to specify one argument:

Data type

Hostname mandatory

string

The data type of the values in the new column is string.

Example

You can copy the following LINQ script and try the above example on the my.upload.sample.data table. Keep in mind you must download the CSV file above.

from my.upload.sample.data
select split(message, ";", 15) as Hostnames
select rootsuffix(Hostnames) as root_suffix
