Overview

You can use the active refresh button in your Activeboards to relaunch queries and, if activated, restart the realtime feed. The function of the refresh button is to free up browser memory by reestablishing the connection to the queries that feed the Activeboard's widgets. It also helps sidestep the issue of an individual widget encountering an error and thus being unable to recover and continue updating.

Refresh your Activeboard

The refresh button is located in the top-right corner of your screen, just beside the time-range control. When you refresh the Activeboard all of the widgets' queries are relaunched and the real-time feed is restarted, assuming it is activated.

Activeboard vs browser refresh

There are different consequences regarding refreshing your Activeboard vs refreshing the entire browser.

Using the Refresh button in VIEW mode simply relaunches the queries, thus you will not lose your changes. However, if you refresh the browser, your changes will be lost.

The following refresh options are available:

Clicking on the arrow will result in an instant refresh. All of the widgets' queries will be relaunched and the real-time feed restarted. It can be used at any moment, even if a periodicity option is selected.

The periodic refresh is deactivated so queries will not be refreshed unless you manually click the arrow icon.

All of the widgets' queries will be relaunched and the real-time feed restarted every 5, 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

It isn't necessary to click on the arrow unless you want to manually trigger a refresh.

Every time you select a refresh option the arrow icon changes momentarily into a green tick, indicating the refresh is activated. A loading icon will appear in each of your widgets which indicates that they are refreshing.

Actions do not affect periodicity

The time period selected for the refresh affects all widgets and inputs regardless of their creation date. For example, imagine it is 17:00 and you select a refresh every 15 minutes but then create a new widget at 17:05—all of the Activeboard's widgets will refresh at 17:15, including the new widget.

Furthermore, once a time period to refresh has been selected, clicking on the arrow icon does not restart the timer.
