Create a custom table

You can create a custom table from a source data table to define and edit the columns that you want to work with. All your custom tables will appear as common data tables in the finder.

Why can't I see my custom table in the finder?

Please bear in mind that new custom tables may take up to several minutes to be available in Data Search → Explore Your Data. Try using the Refresh button.

Why can't I create a custom table?

Note that you cannot create a custom table using queries that contain groups or aggregated data, or tables where you injected data. Similarly, you cannot use tables that contain columns labeled as extra unless you rename them.
Check these articles to know more: Group data, Aggregate data, Inject data to a new table and Selecting unrevealed columns.

For example, this may be useful when you send data to the Devo platform from a source that has not a tag defined yet. In this case, your raw data will be stored in a my.app table. You can query the necessary data and create a custom table only with the required columns.

  1. Go to Data Search and open the data table you want to use as the base for your custom table.

  2. Select the gear icon on the toolbar, then go to New → Custom table → New.

  3. Give the table a name. Choose either my.synthesis, my.parser or my.tech, then enter the third and fourth levels of the table name. Note that the table name cannot contain spaces or symbols, and may contain letters and numbers.

  4. Configure the custom table fields. Select New Field to add new fields to the custom table. You can also edit the columns' values and names or delete them.

  5. Click OK when you are done. The new custom table will appear in Data Search → Explore Your Data. As stated above, this may take several minutes.
