Endpoint Agent 1.4.0

The Endpoint Agent v1.4.0 has been released in February 2023. This release includes the latest version of Osquery agent, based on Osquery 5.7.0.

You can upgrade from Endpoint Agent 1.3.1 following the existing upgrade
procedure.

New features

• Osquery upgraded to 5.7.0: this release now packages Osquery 5.7.0, complete with bug fixes
  and improvements.

• Support for Alma Linux 8 and Alma Linux 9.

• Support for Amazon Linux 2:
  Certificated deployment for CIS-Level2 hardened images using the CIS Amazon Linux 2 Benchmark - Level 2 provided by CIS in AWS Marketplace.

Supported operating systems from v1.4.0

Supported operating systems for deploying the Endpoint Agent Manager:

• Red Hat 7

• Red Hat 8

• Alma Linux 8

• Alma Linux 9

• Ubuntu 20

• Ubuntu 22

• Amazon Linux 2

Deprecated operating systems:

• Debian 9

• Debian 10

• Centos 7

• Ubuntu 18

While the Endpoint Agent Manager may still work correctly in the deprecated operating systems, only the supported ones are used to test and certify new releases.

Deployment playbooks might not be optimized for deprecated operating systems. Use one of the supported operating systems to ensure a smooth deployment process.

Bug fixes and minor changes

• DEA deployment failures in Ubuntu 20 due to old python3-openssl
  package dependency.

• Agent packages were unavailable by nginx if some parent paths were not
  created with access for others by default.

• Permissions fixed during deployment of secret folders.
