Description

Extracts the top-level domain (TLD) from the hostnames in a given string field. It is the last part of the domain name, that is, the last label of a fully qualified domain name. For example, in www.example.com, the TLD is com. Some examples of top-level domains are com, org and net

How does it work in the search window?

Select Create field in the search window toolbar, then select the Hostname top level domain operation. You need to specify one argument:

Hostname ^mandatory	string

The data type of the values in the new field is string.

Example

In the my.upload.sample.data table, we want to get the top-level domains of the hostnames in our Hostnames field. To do it, we will create a new field using the Hostname top level domain operation.

The arguments needed to create the new field are:

Hostname - Hostnames field

Click Create column and you will see the following result:

How does it work in LINQ?

Use the operator select... as... and add the operation syntax to create the new column. This is the syntax for the Hostname top level domain operation:

topleveldomain(string)
