Aggregation tasks

Please note that using aggregation tasks may entail an extra charge to your usual Devo subscription fee.

Overview

Aggregation tasks are processes that run continually in order to feed query data to Activeboard widgets or Devo applications. They are created in the search window when the query is saved as a new aggregation task.

In the Aggregation tasks list tab of the Administration → Data management area, you can check the aggregation tasks defined in your domain, as well as stop or configure them.

What permissions do I need?

In order to access the Aggregation task list tab and manage the aggregation tasks in your domain, you need to have a role with management permissions on Domain aggregation tasks (Administration → Roles → Permissions tab). If your role has only view access on this permission, you will be able to see the aggregation tasks, but not to manage or edit them.

Learn more about role permissions in this article.

Filter aggregation tasks

This tab lists the aggregation tasks set up by yourself, or the ones that have been created in the domain. If you think you might not be seeing the most recent data, you can click the Refresh button above the table.

The Status column shows if the task is active (green) or inactive (red). If the icon is yellow, it indicates the aggregation task is being removed, started, or stopped.

Use the filters to narrow down or expand your search. You can click on the time buttons, enter text into the search bar, or use the drop-down menu to search by status.

Click the X that appears next to the filters applied to remove them. For the time-based filters, you need to click on the time button to remove the filter.

Manage aggregation tasks

To manage an aggregation task, click the ellipsis icon that appears at the end of the row. You can access the following options:

Edit

To access the info, you can also click the corresponding cell under the Name column.

Here you can check and edit the aggregation task details. Perform the desired changes and select Update to apply them.

To open the query you used to feed the aggregation task so you can edit it, click the Edit in search window button above the query dialog.

Make the required changes in the query, then select the Set query change in aggregation task button that appears in the toolbar and click Update to apply your modifications.

Run / Stop

Run or stop the aggregation task.

Delete

Delete the aggregation task, thus removing all the data generated. You must stop an aggregation task in order to delete it, otherwise the option will not show.

Rebuild

Rebuild the data from a stopped aggregation task. Rebuild the aggregation task from the date initially set. This task can take several minutes, and you will lose previously calculated information.
