Users with the Activeboards (manage) or the User resources permission can activate the edit mode by clicking the Edit mode toggle at the top left area

Activating the edit mode affects the actions you can perform in your Activeboards, and applies to all the Activeboards you work with in the current user session. That is to say, if you activate the edit mode, the change is applied to all the Activeboards you access in that session, both your own Activeboards and the ones you've been given access.

By default, all Activeboards have the edit mode deactivated when you first access them in a session. However, when you create a new Activeboard, the edit mode is activated by default so that you can start working on it directly.

Users are allowed to perform different actions upon activation of the edit mode:

Edit mode OFF

You can only see the current widgets data but you cannot create new widgets or inputs nor can you modify the aggregation tasks.

You can set different time ranges (both for the Activeboard and for individual widgets) and edit the widgets' visual settings, but keep in mind that these changes will not be saved.

Edit mode ON

Activeboards with the edit mode activated can be completely modified. You can create new widgets and inputs, edit the widgets' properties and sizes, change the date ranges, etc. and apply any modification.

You can activate the edit mode taking into account the following considerations:

  • Users whose role has the User resources permission can always activate the edit mode in Activeboards. Learn more about roles and permissions here.

  • Users with the Activeboards (manage) permission can always activate the edit mode in their own Activeboards. However, if someone shares an Activeboard with them, the permission level may be limited to view. Learn more about sharing Activeboards here.
