.Block a search vv7.1.0

You can protect or block a search to prevent any user in your domain from modifying it. This is useful when, for example, you create a particularly complex search and you don't want to risk accidentally modifying it.

  1. Open the search, then select Additional tools → Search actions → Block as template from the search window toolbar.

  2. The following message box appears to warn you that next time you open the search you will work in Incognito mode, which means that changes will not be saved. Select Yes, block now.

The search is now blocked. The Incognito Mode icon appears in the toolbar whenever you are working with a blocked search. The first time you perform an action such as creating a column, applying a filter, grouping your data or changing the time range, the following message appears to inform you that your changes will not be saved unless you clone the search. If you decide not to clone it but you change your mind afterwards, you can click the Incognito icon on the toolbar to get the message again so you can confirm it and clone the search.

You can also block searches from the Favorite searches and Search history lists.

Unblock a search

Blocked search are indicated with a lock icon in the Favorite searches and Search history lists. Blocked search can be unblocked in these areas by clicking the lock icon.

Be aware that even though the process of blocking a search is performed automatically, the process of unblocking requires an in-between step. For a search to be unblocked it is necessary to close it after clicking the lock icon and then reopen it from the Favorite searches or Search history sections.
