The following video presents a practical example to summarize the process of creating a role and assigning resources.

What permissions do I need to manage roles?

You can manage roles in the Administration → Roles area of the navigation pane if you have the Manage version of the Roles permission. If you only have the View version, you will be able to access this area but you will not be able to modify anything.

In this area, you can create custom roles with a custom set of permissions to control the specific actions certain users can perform or the specific applications, Activeboards, alerts, and lookups they can access in each domain.

Users with SAML enabled

Be aware that you will not be able to apply changes in this area if you log in using SAML.

Create a custom role

Clone an existing role

Another way of creating a new role is by cloning an existing role that already has a similar set of permissions and allowed applications. You can clone both default and custom roles.
