Create and manage sending policies

About sending policies management

Sending policies dictate how to send alerts, to whom, and when. The how to send and to whom of the policy is specified by the delivery methods that are selected for the policy. Therefore, in order to create a sending policy, you must have at least one delivery method already available. The when is defined in the sending policy but can be restricted with an optional anti-flooding policy associated.

Sending policies are managed in the Administration → Alert configuration area, in the Alert Policies top tab, and then inside the Sending Policy tab.

What permissions do I need?

To access the Administration → Alert Configuration area you need to have a role with the Manage version of the Alert configuration permission, which also enables the Alert Policies tab. If you only have the View version of this permission, you will not be able to perform any task here.

Assign a sending policy to an alert definition

Once you've created a sending policy, it is available to be assigned to alerts in the Available Alerts tab of the Administration → Alert Configuration area (click here to know more).

Create a sending policy

Click the New sending policy button at the top right and the Sending Policy window opens. Introduce the required settings and click Create. Pay special attention to Delivery types and Delivery methods, for you must select at least one combination and click Add.

Edit a sending policy

Find the desired policy, and click the ellipsis icon that appears at the end of the row. Select Edit to open the Sending Policy window, make the necessary changes and click Update.

Delete a sending policy

Find the desired policy, and click the ellipsis icon that appears at the end of the row. Select Delete and confirm the warning message that appears.
