Visualize triggered alerts graphically
What permissions do I need?
To access the Alerts overview area and see charts, you need at least the View level of the Triggered alerts permission (see a detailed description of the alerts permissions here).
Additionally, you need to have alerts assigned with at least View access (see Assign resources to a role).
About charts
The chart at the top of the Alerts overview represents the alerts triggered in the domain for the selected time range. There are several types of charts, each of them designed to describe a specific aspect of the alerts represented.
Line chart
This chart helps you understand alert distribution over time. The position of the nodes represented on the chart is determined by the total number of alerts triggered in the time interval between two nodes, and the duration of each interval is determined by the time range selected. Nodes are joined by a line that represents the tendency.
Voronoi chart
This chart helps you understand alert distribution according to category. It represents categories and subcategories as cells, which are grouped and arranged hierarchically and their size determined by the number of alerts they embody.
Calendar chart
This chart helps you understand patterns and anomalies in alert distribution. It represents days as cells, each of them colored according to the number of alerts triggered for that day.
The minimum date range required to successfully construct this chart is 24 hours. If the first day of the specified time range is not complete, it will show all alerts triggered on that day anyway. If it is the last day that is not complete, it will show only those alerts triggered up to that moment.
Timeline chart
This chart helps you understand how alerts develop chronologically. It represents alerts on a timeline. This chart represents only alerts listed on the active page, not all alerts triggered for the entire period selected.
Switching charts
You can change the type of chart to adapt it to your visualization needs using the drop-down menu at the top. Regardless of the type chosen, the chart always uses the alerts triggered in the specified time range to plot data. You can also hide the chart using the button beside to get some extra space to show the alert list.
Working with charts
Like any other chart in Devo, the chart in the Alerts overview is interactive, so you can perform a variety of actions depending on the type selected.
Line chart
You can hover over any point in the chart to reveal a tooltip with the number or alerts triggered in the time interval between that node and the next.
Voronoi chart
ou can hover over any cell to reveal a tooltip with the details of the category. You can also double-click on a cell to drill down and see the subcategories inside it. To move one level up, simply double-right-click on the cell; to fully move up, press the ESC key. If you want to zoom in or out without drilling down, use Shift + Scroll.
Calendar chart
You can hover over a cell on the calendar to reveal a tooltip with the total number of alerts triggered on that day. This also highlights the legend and shows this number on its relative position between the maximum and minimum.
Timeline chart
You can click on an alert to highlight it and better see the exact moment in time it triggered. To pan the chart either vertically or horizontally to see the different alerts, simply click and drag. You can also zoom in or out using Shift + Scroll.
