About alert comments

Alerts are designed to inform us of conditions in our data that require attention and often, action. For this reason, Devo offers the ability to track all activity that occurs in response to an alert via comments in a chat window.

The chat window is attached to a triggered alert and all comments inserted are visible to all users with access to the Alerts overview. Users can participate in the conversation to reply and provide help or updates. In this way, they can coordinate their efforts to resolve the alert condition and share useful information.

What permissions do I need?

To access the Alerts overview area and open the Comments chat window, you need at least the View level of the Triggered alerts permission (see a detailed descriptions of the alerts permissions here).

Additionally, you need to have alerts assigned with at least View access (see Assign resources to a role).

Adding a comment from the alert list

Adding a comment to a single alert

Find the desired alert on the list and click the speech bubble icon at the end of the alert row to open the Comments chat window for that alert.

In the Comments chat window, you can see the alert name at the top and comments sent in the middle. To leave your comment, simply introduce a message using the field at the bottom and click the send button (or press ENTER in your keyboard).

You can also see and add comments to a triggered alert from the details window, which is accesible by clicking an alert’s ID on the list (more info about the details window here). Select the Comments tab, click inside the typing field and write your comment, then click the paper plane icon to send it.

Identify alerts with comments

Alerts with comments can be easily identified because the speech bubble icon at the end of the row changes color and includes a number next it that indicates the number of comments it contains.

To see the comments, simply click it and the Comments window opens.

You can add a comment in response to a previous one. This way comments are nested in threads and can be easily correlated. Simply click on the Reply button below a comment, write your response, and click the send button (or press ENTER in your keyboard).
