Division (div, /)
Description
The new column returns the division of two numbers or the division of a duration and an integer number. When both numbers are integer and the division is not exact, the result will be the value of the quotient.
How does it work in the search window?
Select Create column in the search window toolbar, then select the Division operation. You need to specify two arguments:
Argument | Data type |
---|---|
Divide mandatory | integer, float, duration |
by mandatory | integer, float |
The data type of the values in the new column is integer (when you divide an integer or float by another number) or duration (when you divide a duration by an integer).
Example
We want to divide the values in the posNumbers1_int column of our table by 2. To do it, we will create a new field using the Division operation. Let's call the new field PosNumbers_divided.
The arguments needed to create the new field are:
Divide - posNumbers1_int column
by - Click the pencil icon and enter 2
Click Create field and you will see the following result:
How does it work in LINQ?
Use the operator select
... as
... and add the operation syntax to create the new column. These are the valid formats of the Division operation:
number1 / number2
div(number1, number2)
duration / integer
div(duration, integer)
Example
You can copy the following LINQ scripts and try the above example on the my.upload.sample.data
table.
from my.upload.sample.data
select split(message, ";", 16) as posNumbers1,
int(posNumbers1) as posNumbers1_int
select posNumbers1_int / 2 as `/2`
or
from my.upload.sample.data
select split(message, ";", 16) as posNumbers1,
int(posNumbers1) as posNumbers1_int
select div(posNumbers1_int, 2) as `/2`
